9th AUN-QA Training Workshop for Accomplishing Programme Assessment

The 9th AUN-QA Workshop for Accomplishing Programme Assessment was organised by AUN Secretariat from 25 to 28 August 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand.


The 4-day course aims to introduce the AUN-QA system and enhance quality assurance practices based on the latest version of AUN-QA criteria (3rd version). It is held for professionals who are in charge of quality assurance in higher education. The content of the workshop focuses on AUN-QA model at programme level and it encompasses:
  • Introduction to quality assurance in higher education
  • AUN-QA model and criteria at programme level
  • AUN-QA quality assessment process
  • PDCA Approach to self-assessment
  • Self-assessment report (SAR) writing
  • Change Management
The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, AUN-QA Expert together with Dr. Arnie from De La Salle University. The workshop was attended by 33 participants from Indonesia, Thailand, and Viet Nam.

6th Happiness DNA Public Workshop

The 6th Happiness DNA public workshop was held on 20 & 21 August 2015. The workshop was facilitated by Chief Happiness Coach, Mr Johnson Ong Chee Bin of Living Better with collaboration with ASK Training Pte Ltd.

The 2-day workshop is based on the principles of positive psychology, and physical, mental and emotional therapies and techniques. It is taught in a unique change methodology where participants first determine the level of their happiness in the eight dimensions of the happiness DNA. How to nurture and sustain the eight dimensions of the happiness DNA is then introduced. The workshop concluded with an action plan to address the gaps in the happiness DNA.

47th AUN-QA Assessment at Centro Escolar University (Manila Campus)

The 47th AUN-QA Assessment for programme level at Centro Escolar University was held from 11 - 13 August 2015 in Manila, Philippines. Three study programmes, namely; biology, pharmacy, and hotel and restaurant management were assessed. The assessment of the Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management programme was led by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin (AUN-QA Expert, Singapore) with Dr. Kunyada Anuwong from Srinakharinwirot University, Thailand.

ASEAN-QA TrainIQA Workshop II - Tools and Procedures in QA

The ASEAN-QA Phase 2 is a follow-up to the ASEAN-QA Phase 1 project. The project partners are DAAD, HRK, ENQA, Universitat Potsdam, AQAN, AUN, and SEAMEO-RIHED. It aims to build capacity in quality assurance in higher educations among the QA professionals in ASEAN universities including East Timor. 

The 2nd TrainIQA workshop on "Tools and Procedures in Quality Assurance" was hosted by Potsdam University, from 27 July to 4 August 2015 in Potsdam, Germany. The workshop was attended by 32 participants from Build Bright University, Phnom Penh International University, Royal University of Phnom Penh, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Brawijaya University, Syiah Kuala University, Politeknik Negeri Bandung, Diponegoro University, Universitas Padjadjaran, Champasak University, Universiti Teknologi Petronas, International Islamic University, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia (Melaka), Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Myanmar Maritime University, Technological University (Thanlyin), University of the Philippines, De La Salle University (Dasmarinas), De La Salle University, Mahidol University, Chulalongkorn University, Dili Institute of Technology, National University of East Timor, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City, Hue University, University of Economics - Ho Chi Minh City, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Can Tho University and Vietnam National University of Agriculture.

The learning outcomes of TrainIQA Workshop II are:
  • apply the knowledge gained about prerequisites, paradigms, standards and typical shortcomings in evaluations in higher education when organising an evaluative process
  • take into account the basic principles of qualitative and quantitative empirical social research methods when designing instruments for data collection, e.g. surveys and interviews, and interpreting data,
  • apply these instruments in regard to the particular characteristics and framework
