7th AUN-QA Workshop for Accomplishing Programme Assessment

The 7th “AUN-QA Workshop for Accomplishing Programme Assessment” was organised for AUN-QA members and non-members by AUN Secretariat. The 4-day workshop was held from 27 - 30 January 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 4-day course aims to introduce the AUN-QA system and enhance quality assurance practices. It is held for professionals who are in charge of quality assurance in higher education. The content of the workshop focuses on AUN-QA model at programme level and it encompasses:

  • Introduction to quality assurance in higher education
  • AUN-QA model and criteria at programme level
  • AUN-QA quality assessment process
  • PDCA Approach to self-assessment
  • Self-assessment report (SAR) writing
  • Change Management
  • Study visit to Engineering Faculty, Chulalongkorn University
The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin together with Dr. Arnie from De La Salle University. The workshop was attended by 34 participants from Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, Brunei; Universitas Indonesia, Indonesia; De La Salle University, Philippines; University of the Philippines, Philippines; Chulalongkorn University, Thailand; King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, Thailand; Naresuan Univerisity, Thailand; National Institution of Development Administration, Thailand; Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, Vietnam; Thai Nguyen University of Technology, Vietnam; and The University of Danang, Vietnam.

38th AUN Quality Assessment at Universitas Diponegoro

The 38th AUN Quality Assessment for programme level at Universitas Diponegoro was held from 19 - 21 January 2015 in Semarang, Indonesia. Three study programmes, namely; mechanical  engineering, chemical engineering and public health were assessed. The assessment of the Public Health study programme was led by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin (AUN-QA Expert, Singapore) with Dr. Kunyada Anuwong from Srinakharinwirot University, Thailand.

Curriculum Review Workshop at Universitas Gadjah Mada

The PDCA Approach to Curriculum Design and Development was held at the Department of English, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia from 14 to 16 January 2015.

The 3-day workshop was designed and facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, AUN-QA Expert (Singapore). The workshop was attended by academic staff from the English Department and representative from the Quality Assurance Office. 

At the end of the workshop, participants learn to: 
  • Apply the PDCA approach to curriculum design and development
  • Identify the stakeholders’ needs for curriculum development
  • Apply constructive alignment of learning outcomes, teaching and learning strategies and student assessment
  • Apply Bloom’s taxonomy in learning outcomes
  • Apply appropriate teaching and learning strategies for effective learning
  • Design student assessment and rubrics


At the workshop, the following deliverables were made:

  • Categorisation of stakeholders
  • Competency model for the graduate of the English Programme
  • Revised competency domains and programme learning outcomes
  • Mapping of course contributions to programme learning outcomes
  • Template of constructive alignment for learning outcomes, instructional methods and assessment methods
