Applying and Assessing Constructive Alignment in Academic and Professional Programmes at FAA
A two half-day workshop on "Applying and Assessing Constructive Alignment in Academic and Professional Programmes" was organised for Financial Accreditation Agency (FAA) Malaysia on 15 and 16 December 2020 online via zoom. The workshop was designed and facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, Founder & Principal Consultant, Education Quality International (eqi) and AUN-QA Expert. The learning outcomes of the workshop are:
- Explain constructive alignment, its rationales and methodologies
- Apply constructive alignment in learning outcomes and competency-based programmes
- Assess constructive alignment in academic and professional programmes

1st Discovering the Happiness DNA in You Workshop
The 1st "Discovering the Happiness DNA in You" workshop was held on 4 December 2020 at Mandarin Orchard Hotel, Singapore. The workshop was a redesign from the previous workshop on "The Happiness DNA". The outline of the workshop is as follows:
- Definition of happiness
- The science and facts of happiness
- The happiness DNA
- Discovering and measuring happiness DNA
- Internal happiness DNA: mental, emotional and spiritual happiness
- Nurturing and sustaining true happiness
The workshop was organised in collaboration with ASK Training Pte Ltd and Living Better and facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, Founder and Chief Happiness Coach of Living Better.
2nd Happier Career Happier Life Workshop
The 2nd "Happier Career Happier Life" workshop was held on 27 November 2020 at Mandarin Orchard Hotel, Singapore. The outline of the workshop is as follows:
- Overview of the happiness DNA
- The science of happiness in career
- Personality profiling tools to find suitable career choices including numerology, NERIS Type Explorer® and bazi (birthdate)
- Job crafting to redesign work to suit one’s values, strengths and passions
- Understand the kinds of work stress and how to manage them
- Appreciate the future of work and how to stay relevant
The workshop was organised in collaboration with ASK Training Pte Ltd and Living Better and facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, Founder and Chief Happiness Coach of Living Better.
1st online workshop on "AUN-QA Programme Framework (Version 4)
The joint community project between AUN-QA Network and Education Quality International (eqi) was mooted and launched in July 2018. The main objectives of the collaboration are to provide universities in CLM countries with greater opportunities to harmonize their education with other ASEAN universities, to uplift their higher education systems, and to develop and maintain the quality assurance at programme and institutional level based on AUN-QA framework and Outcomes-Based Education (OBE).
With the launch of the revised AUN-QA programme framework version 4 in November 2020, a series of workshops has been planned upon the requests from universities in Myanmar particularly the 33 technological universities and 27 information technology universities in Myanmar. The first online workshop coordinated by Kyauske Technological University was held from 24 to 26 November 2020. The workshop was attended by 39 participants from various technological universities in Myanmar and facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, Founder and Principal Consultant of eqi and Dr. Nguyen Thi My Ngoc, Deputy Director, Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City. The workshop equips participants with the ability to:
- Identify the quality assurance ecosystem;
- Describe the AUN-QA framework;
- Apply the PDCA approach to AUN-QA programme assessment;
- Interpret the AUN-QA criteria for programme level; and
- Write self-assessment report (SAR)
2nd Online Pilot Programme Assessment at the Faculty of Law and Political Science (FLP), NUOL
The 2nd online pilot programme assessment at the Faculty of Law and Political Science (FLP), National University of Laos for Bachelor of Law Programme in Business Law, Bachelor of Law Programme in Civil Law and Bachelor of Political Science Programme in Governance. The online assessment was carried out from 17 to 20 November 2020 under the LuxDev Project.
The pilot programme assessment was carried out by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, International Curriculum Development Specialist and Dr. Nguyen Thi My Ngoc, Regional Curriculum Development and QA Standards Specialist.
Support for Autonomous Higher Education Project (SAHEP) Training Workshop (Phases 1 and 2)
The Support for Autonomous Higher Education Project (SAHEP) Training Workshop (Phases 1 and 2) was hosted online by the Viet Nam Education Quality Agency (VQA) in the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) on 30 and 31 October 2020 and 6 and 7 November 2020 respectively. Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, Founder and Principal Consultant of Education Quality International facilitated the workshop which was attended by 30 senior assessors in each phase.
- Relate the quality ecosystem to institutional and programme QA
- Identify the factors affecting the design of IQA system
- Relate key quality and educational concepts to OBE and QA
- Identify assessor’s competences
- Apply assessment techniques to QA assessment
41th Intake of Certified Quality Manager - Communication Skills
The Certified Quality Manager (CQM) course is hosted by the Singapore Quality Institute (SQI) and Mr Johnson Ong Chee Bin is the appointed trainer for the Communication Skills and Abilities module which was held on 17 October 2020. The module covers the following topics:

Quality Assurance of Digital Learning in the Disruptive Era
Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, Founder and Principal Consultant of Education Quality International was invited as a keynote speaker at the virtual "International Conference on the Future of Higher Education Initiatives in Indonesia throughout Covid-19 Pandemic and Beyond" hosted by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (MOEC/Kemdikbud) and the DAAD Regional Office Jakarta. Johnson's presented the topic on "Quality Assurance of Digital Learning in the Disruptive Era" which covered the following areas:
- The need for quality assurance framework in digital learning
- Quality assurance framework of digital learning
- Quality assurance indicators for digital learning
- Aligning the quality assurance framework of digital learning to AUN-QA framework
- 5Rs strategy to redesign digital learning

Online Pilot Programme Assessment at the Faculty of Law and Political Science (FLP), NUOL
The 1st online pilot programme assessment at the Faculty of Law and Political Science (FLP), National University of Laos for Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Bachelor of Law in Criminal Law was carried out on 19 to 23 October 2020 under the LuxDev Project.
The pilot programme assessment was carried out by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, International Curriculum Development Specialist and Dr. Jenny Ngoc, Regional Curriculum Development and QA Standards Specialist.
Future Higher Education Initiatives in Indonesia International Seminar
The international Seminar on "Future Higher Education Initiatives in Indonesia - Throughout COVID-19 Era and Beyond" was hosted by the Ministry of Education and Culture - Directorate General of Higher Education and DAAD on 20 October 2020.
Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin was invited as one of the keynote speakers and he shared the topic on "Quality Assurance of Digital Learning in the Disruptive Era". The seminar was attended by more than 360 participants. The seminar can be accessed via https://youtu.be/7oJc3PqRUs8

The 49th National and 10th International PAFTE Convention (2nd Webinar) were organised by the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE) on 9 and 10 October 2020 with the theme "The Promise of Social Emotional Learning Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic".
Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, Founder and Principal Consultant of Education Quality International and AUN-QA Expert was invited as a keynote speaker sharing the topic "Connecting the Body, Mind, Heart and Soul in Social Emotional Learning" on 10 October 2020. His topic covered 3 key areas:

181th AUN-QA Programme Assessment at Chulalongkorn University (Online)
The 181th AUN-QA programme assessment at Chulalongkorn University was held online from 21 to 25 September 2020. Two study programmes were assessed: Doctor of Dental Surgery Programme and Master of Science Programme in Periodontics. Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, AUN-QA Expert led the programme assessment for the Doctor of Dental Surgery Programme with Dr. Kiran Kaur as co-assessor. This was the 4th online/remote programme assessment held by AUN-QA Network in the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Quality Assurance of Course Evaluation and Teacher Quality Workshop at University of Santos Tomas
The 2-day online workshop on "Quality Assurance of Course Evaluation and Teacher Quality" was held on 25 and 26 August 2020 for the University of Santos Tomas (UST), the Philippines. The online workshop was facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, Principal Consultant of Educational Quality International via UST Blackboard learning management system.
The workshop was attended by 36 CITED Facilitator, Pedagogical Lead and e-learning Specialist. The learning outcomes of the workshop are:
- Apply the “ABCDE” facilitation process and “GROWTH” coaching to clients in seeking improvement on course plans and materials;
- Distinguish competences and learning outcomes;
- Apply the principle of outcomes-based education and constructive alignment to evaluate course plans and materials;
- Evaluate the constructive alignment of instructional and assessment methods to achieve learning outcomes;
- Assess validity and reliability of assessment rubrics and marking schemes for constructive alignment; and
- Enhance the evaluation of course plans, materials, teacher quality and the roles of CITED

Writing Learning Outcomes (Online) at the Faculty of Law (FLP), NUOL
The online workshop on "Writing Learning Outcomes" was organised by the LuxDev Project Office and the Faculty of Law (FLP) on 22 July 2020. The workshop was attended by 33 faculty members and administrative staff from FLP and NUOL.
The learning outcomes of the workshop are as follows:
- Explain the purpose of educational taxonomy
- Describe revised Bloom’s Taxonomy and its uses
- Explain the category of learning domains
- Relate the level of learning to learning outcomes
- Apply revised Bloom’s Taxonomy in writing learning outcomes
