Self-Assessment Report (SAR) Writing Clinic at the Faculty of Law, NUOL

Following up on the LuxDev Project LAO/031 to enhance AUN-QA standards in supporting the continued development of higher legal education in Lao PDR, a series of SAR writing clinic sessions has been planned for the Faculty of Law (FLP), National University of Laos (NUOL). The first SAR writing clinic was held from 2 to 4 September 2019 at FLP campus in Vientiane, Lao PDR.

The 21/2-day SAR writing clinic aims to review the writing of the SAR for AUN-QA criteria and to provide feedback and support. The SAR writing clinic was led by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, Curriculum Development Specialist and AUN-QA Expert, which involved the administrative divisions and the five departments of FLP.

156th AUN-QA Programme Assessment at Universitas Negeri Semarang

The 156th AUN-QA programme assessment at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) was held from 27 to 29 August 2019, Semarang, Indonesia. Four study programmes were assessed: Bachelor in Biology; Bachelor in Indonesian Language and Literature Education; Bachelor in Physical Education and Bachelor in Development Economics. Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, AUN-QA Expert led the  programme assessment for Development Economics. The assessment was broadcast in the local news at https://youtu.be/eZ-ZHkNf6AY

1st AUN-QA Assessors Calibration Workshop

The 1st AUN-QA Assessors Calibration Workshop was organised by AUN-QA Network and hosted by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) from 13 to 15 August 2019, Vietnam. The 21/2-day workshop was held for the AUN-QA assessors in Vietnam and invited guests from the Vietnam Education Quality Management Agency (VQA) and Centre for Educational Accreditation, VNU-HN.

The expected learning outcomes of the workshop are:

  • Distinguish the differences between principles-based and rules-based assessment
  • Differentiate OBE, AUN-QA and other quality assurance frameworks used for programme design and assessment
  • Assess study programme based on the AUN-QA and OBE integrated framework
  • Evaluate the level of OBE implementation
  • Rate AUN-QA criteria and programme
  • Apply effective interview techniques for principles-based AUN-QA programme assessment
The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, AUN-QA expert (Singapore).









3rd AUN-QA Workshop for Accomplishing Institutional Assessment

The 3rd AUN-QA Workshop for Accomplishing Institutional Assessment was held in Bangkok from 5 to 8 August 2019.

The 31/2-day workshop aims to introduce the AUN-QA framework and enhance quality assurance practices based on the latest version of AUN-QA framework at institutional level (2nd version). The content of the workshop encompasses:

  • Education Ecosystem
  • The Need for Institutional Assessment and Regional QA Framework
  • AUN-QA Framework and Criteria for Institutional Level
  • SAR for Institutional Assessment
  • SAR Review
  • AUN-QA Institutional Assessment Process

The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, AUN-QA Expert together with Dr. Tan Kay Chuan from the National University of Singapore. The workshop was attended by 30 participants from universities in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

AUN-QA Framework for Programme Level at Myanmar Aerospace Engineering University, Myanmar

A 3-day training workshop "AUN-QA Framework for Programme Level" was hosted by Myanmar Aerospace Engineering University from 22 to 24 July 2019. The workshop was jointly sponsored by Education Quality International (eqi) as part of its service community project for CLM countries in ASEAN, University of Mandalay and AUN-QA Network. This was the fifth community project by eqi to assist CLM countries in uplifting their education quality.

The workshop was designed and facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, Founder & Principal Consultant (eqi) and AUN-QA Expert, and Dr. Jenny Ngoc, AUN-QA Assessor and Lecturer, Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City. The workshop aims to achieve the following learning outcomes:

• Define quality assurance in higher education
• Describe the AUN-QA framework;
• Interpret the AUN-QA criteria for programme level;
• Apply the PDCA approach to Self-assessment at programme level;
• List the requirements of Self-Assessment Report (SAR); 
• Apply the technique for writing SAR; and
• Describe the AUN-QA assessment process

A total of 36 Participants from 17 universities in Myanmar attended the workshop.







AUN-QA Framework for Programme Level at University of Mandalay, Myanmar

A 3-day training workshop "AUN-QA Framework for Programme Level" was hosted by University of Mandalay from 17 to 19 July 2019. The workshop was jointly sponsored by Education Quality International (eqi) as part of its service community project for CLM countries in ASEAN, University of Mandalay and AUN-QA Network. This was the fourth community project by eqi to assist CLM countries in uplifting their education quality.

The workshop was designed and facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, Founder & Principal Consultant (eqi) and AUN-QA Expert The workshop aims to achieve the following learning outcomes:

Define quality assurance in higher education
Describe the AUN-QA framework;
Interpret the AUN-QA criteria for programme level;
Apply the PDCA approach to Self-assessment at programme level;
List the requirements of Self-Assessment Report (SAR); 
Apply the technique for writing SAR; and
Describe the AUN-QA assessment process

A total of 40 Participants from 9 universities in Myanmar attended the workshop.

36th AUN-QA Workshop for Accomplishing Programme Assessment


The 36th AUN-QA Workshop for Accomplishing Programme Assessment was held in Bangkok, Thailand from 9 to 12 July 2019.

The 31/2-day workshop aims to introduce the AUN-QA framework and enhance quality assurance practices based on the 3rd version of the AUN-QA framework at programme level. The content of the workshop encompasses:

  • Quality assurance in higher education
  • AUN-QA framework and criteria at programme level
  • AUN-QA quality assessment process
  • PDCA Approach to self-assessment
  • Self-assessment report (SAR) writing
  • Change Management

The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, AUN-QA Expert together with Prof. Satria Bijaksana (ITB, Indonesia). The workshop was attended by 32 participants from universities and institutions in Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
