8th Assessor Training Workshop for AUN-QA Programme Assessment

The 8th Assessor Training Workshop for AUN-QA Programme Assessment was jointly organised by AUN-QA Network and Mahidol University from 21 to 27 September 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand. The workshop was uniquely designed to give a "hyper-real" experience by incorporating both "simulated assessment environment" in the classroom and "live assessment" observation of the 121st AUN-QA Programme Assessment at Mahidol University.

The workshop aims to equip participants with the essential competences to carry out an AUN-QA programme assessment. The workshop aims to achieve the following learning outcomes:
  • Demonstrate the competences to carry out AUN-QA programme assessment 
  • Relate the quality assurance of higher education in key ASEAN member states to AUN-QA programme assessment 
  • Formulate questions for AUN-QA programme assessment 
  • Apply the PDCA approach in AUN-QA programme assessment
  • Prepare an AUN-QA programme assessment 
  • Conduct a desktop assessment for a programme; 
  • Conduct a site assessment including stakeholders’ interviews, site tour and documentation review; and 
  • Write assessment feedback, presentation and report
The workshop was attended by 30 participants from universities in Brunei, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, AUN-QA Expert together with Dr. Tan Kay Chuan from the National University of Singapore.

2nd AUN-QA Workshop for Accomplishing Institutional Assessment

The 2nd AUN-QA Workshop for Accomplishing Institutional Assessment was held in Bangkok from 10 to 13 September 2018.

The 31/2-day workshop aims to introduce the AUN-QA framework and enhance quality assurance practices based on the latest version of AUN-QA framework at institutional level (2nd version). The content of the workshop encompasses:
  • Education Ecosystem
  • The Need for Institutional Assessment and Regional QA Framework
  • AUN-QA Framework and Criteria for Institutional Level
  • SAR for Institutional Assessment
  • SAR Review
  • AUN-QA Institutional Assessment Process
The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, AUN-QA Expert together with Dr. Tan Kay Chuan from the National University of Singapore. The workshop was attended by 32 participants from universities in Cambodia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.







Managing Emotions in Customer Experience

The workshop on "Managing Emotions in Customer Experience" was held on 14 September 2018 at Bishan Community Centre, Singapore for the staff of People's Association. This 1-day workshop focuses on the affective skills in managing emotions and how to add emotional value to customer experience. A unique feature of the workshop is to apply emotional mapping of a “live” customer experience through mystery shopping. At the end of the workshop, participants learn to:

  • Appreciate the importance of emotions in customer experience
  • Understand and identify the type of emotions and emotion triggers
  • Adding emotional value to customer experience
  • Emotional mapping of customer experience
The workshop was designed and facilitated by Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, Chief Happiness Coach of Living Better.







International Conference on Education Development and Quality Assurance

The International Conference on Education Development and Quality Assurance (ICED-QA 2018) was hosted by Universitas Andalas on 4 September 2018 at Padang, Indonesia. The theme of the conference was "Improving Education Quality Towards International Standard".

Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, Founder and Principal Consultant of Education Quality International (eqi) was invited as the first keynote speaker at the conference. His presentation was "AUN-QA Approach to Outcomes-Based Education (OBE)".
